Yes, I always got along great with my mom-in-law and after hubby and I were married about 18 years she lived with us for almost 9 years and then went to another state to be near her daughters for awhile. She passed away this year. My father-in-law is great as well and he and his new wife get along with us fine. (hubby's mom and dad were divorced for a long time.) My son-in-law is fantastic and he and I go to ballgames and stuff together. He is a really great guy. My daughter-in-law was not too friendly at first as she did not know us well, but the past couple of years has seen a gradual change and she now calls to talk to me often as well as us getting together occasionally. I think she is sweet and just needs to realize that all in-law stories she had heard are not always true, and that we are not like her family (they have a hard time with birthdays as NO one can get along!) My hubby adores my family as well, as they do him.
My mom gave me this bit of advice before I got married:
Remember that they are trying to adjust to a new daughter as much as you are to new parents, and that once they stood in your shoes as well. Compromise, make the first move to call or go over when it has been awhile, and always keep your spouse's love foremost in your focus - that is the common ground. It worked for me and did not take long at all to love them as much as my own family. I now use the same philosophy but towards my children, and it also works well. Best wishes.

No, my mother in law is the devil. My father in law isn't so bad. Either he's really dumb or ignores my mother in law all the time. She might as well talk out her ***, because everything she says is a lie.

I always tried to but my ex's family is allot like him thinks they are better than everyone else. No longer see them because of separation and at least his parents thinking I am mental for leaving my abusive self obsessed jerk of a husband. WHATEVER
