.....and don't plan to stay in the US

No, they are much more likely to find work in the US. It's tough to get away with hiring people illegally in Canada. The Canada Revenue Agency takes a dim view of employers who don't deduct taxes, and employees need a social insurance number to pay said taxes. A small business might be able to get away with having a few illegals, but the US situation of a whole meat packing plant full of illegals is unimaginable in Canada. Aside from the CRA, the unions would flip out.

The Canadian government has a policy of only allowing people in that have money, spouses, or profession accerditations. Stupid thing is they don't let the professionals do their jobs when they get here because they don't meet "standards". Sometimes it's hard to even work in a different province when you're all ready a citizen and trained here. Besides there's not that much for "illegals" to do here. Most of the labour intensive agriculture products we buy come from the states. We've got dairies, ranches, and cereal farms mostly. You only ever get Mexican migrant labour showing up in places like the Lower Mainland where they grow berries and flowers. All the factories and such are geared to high tech stuff or cars, the few places that really have a labour shortage (Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Vancouver) are all way to expensive for someone making lesser, illegal wages to stay at. You can't really winter in tent here you know.

Anyway, why are you Americans bit-ching anyway? If there wasn't a demand these guys wouldn't be coming. They're glad to take all the shaat jobs you guys don't want. Someone has to do it

If they are I wanna tag along! Canada is an awesome place to live but it's real hard getting in, so I doubt a poor illegal could go there.
