Ol' D. B took a limo to the welfare office to pick up his check on MTV and Bone Thugs among other rap artists sing songs about getting "the check". The publicity these acts receive perpetuate this stereotype. Stating there are no individuals with black skin on welfare is perpetuating a stereotype, you are creating a reality based on your limited experience, for an entire body of people. This would be the same if I were to say there are no whites on welfare, because I've never met one. OR all blacks like fried chicken because my black friend does, or all white people like Mayo because I do. There are stereotypes for the black race just as there are for Hispanics, Whites, Asians, Middle easterners, Gays, Women, Men, Jews, Muslims, etc, etc, etc
Stereotyping is a primitive way of thinking, only education can end this. and Why specifically black stereotypes? No race, sex, creed goes un stereotyped. If you want to end stereotyping and racism you need to look at the big picture, not one section of the problem. "You can't see the wood for the trees."

I can't answer your whole post, but how would *you* know there aren't any blacks in the welfare line unless you were there yourself? As one who needed an occasional hand up while I was down, don't knock it 'til you've tried it. And last time *I* looked, blacks outnumbered the whites percentage-wise when it came to the public dole. Now, who's being stereotypically prejudiced? Remember what Rodney King said? Answer me this, why is race such a big deal? I don't get any more than you do and I'm not knocking someone over the head with *my* gender or race!
What "class" do you find this information in? Call it the "School of Hard Knocks"!

The welfare dole is public information. Blacks comprimise apprroximately 1/2 of the dole and about 1/7th of the population.
Sounds like you are the racist...and perhaps a little ignorant of the facts as well....perhaps you do not know any blacks on welfare just means you live a good neighborhood...
A ghetto is a planned housing project for those too poor to afford to pay for their own place...go to a ghetto and see the color of the people there.
When I was a kid, they used to bus in the blacks from the ghetto to my schoold...I bet you have never meat a black person from the ghetto in your short, sheltered life. You need to do a better job of understanding hard facts before anyone will respect you opinion...and your post is more of an opinion than a question...and it is also a racist stereo-type of white people

They stereotype us this way because society have made us the low man on the totem pole. When just about everything that this society uses have been invented be our ancestors. And some our people fall for the okee-doke. We are strong people and they know this. That is why they always try to keep us down. Yet they want to be like us. They tan, get their lips injected to look fuller and they want bigger behinds. Thank the Most High, I was born into this race. I love my people. Check out the website that list some of the things that black people have invented. I know a lot of you are going to be surprised.

"What class do I go to find people stereotyping opinions on the black race?"
"Me being black never knew any were on welfare, that's why I ask for your help."

The best way to discover other race's is to get to know them. Yes, make a friend outside of your own race. You'll kearn something. You'll learn we're not really all that differant deep down inside. Yes we have different custum's and culture's, but basically we all crave the same thing's for our own lives. You'll have fun doing it to! You'll also make some great friend's and can thrpw out the styreo types. Those people who believe them are afraid of anyone different from them.

Well,Im mixed And Im originally from Manhattan,so Ive seen all walks of life. But honestly there are Blacks on welfare,AS well as Whites,Asians,Latins, etc. Many people work and pay their own rent expenses but find they need help with childcare or medical expenses. So they get welfare not necessarily for cash $ but for medicaid or childcare vouchers. Many times you just need small help or help with one thing and the Establishment catagorizes everyone as "welfare Recipients" instead of making smaller divissions to help specific needs.

You got me, I'm black and I have never met another black person that is on welfare. I have met a few on disability, but not welfare, if this stereotype were to be true, you would think that a black person such as myself would have see it with his own eyes somewhere.

it must depend on where you live, I'm in a poor jersey neighborhood-where blacks make up most the population followed by mexicans then whites. In my area there are tons of blacks on welfare and barely any whites-I dont mean it stereotypically-its just the way it is.Theres a saying that if your in jersey your either really poor or really rich.

there are people of many races in this country recieving welfare, housing, jobs, cars, homes and everything else..... all for FREE! the majority of them do not pay taxes or work a full time job so I don't know where you came from or whether you have not researched the local dept. of human services office but get out a little more and you will find out who's WHO.
