When you're introduced to the person, try to remember his/her
most prominent feature or things relating to his name. Eg:
1. Bob - does he look like spongebob?
2. Luke - do u want to "luke" at him again?
3. Mole - does he have any moles on his face?
4. C3P0 - is he some kind of robot?
5. Solo - is he a bachelor?
The important thing is match features to names.

Writing them down, making it into a song. You can even ask if you are able to call them a nick name instead. Some people I know just keep asking others names untill they get it...That could work but it would make someone wonder why do they have to tell you their name each time.

Experts recommend that you that after finding out a persons name you say it five times to yourself and associate its sound to something else. Like if the name is Kevin Sites, you might associate it with reporter-yahoo or something to this effect.

I always repeat their name. If they say, "Hi. My name is John," then I say, "Hi John. I'm Mary." Repeating their name while they are there puts it in my memory because it is both verbal and audible. It's a good trick.
