I have always wanted to visit Ireland, but have never had enough $ to go, I would love to see the beautiful gardens and forest that I see in the photos from the internet. Also, visit and stay in one of the castles, visit with the culture, listen to the language and their myths & folk stories. Just a dream.

Sign up for Priceline, figure your airfare is going to be around $500 total, and just keep trying to get that fare, to any Irish airport. Eventually, someone will accept your price. (Watch out for taxes and fees, adjust your bid acordingly. You may get lucky for even less.)

Once you know where you're flying into, you can find some great deals on the internet for lodging. Venere.com or vrbo.com have some pretty good rates, and there are plenty of other sites to shop around. Find a cheap place to use as a home base, and use public transporation to get around. Eat off of street vendor carts, or local grocers, and you can get by pretty cheaply for food.

I spent 10 days in Italy for under $1500 earlier this year, airfare included, with 6 days/nights in Rome. You can't be picky, but you can get by very decently!

•Find a old lonely person who has lots of money, and convince him or her to fund your trip, and in exchange they get to go with you as a friend.

•Dress up like a leprechaun and dance in the streets, and have a sign nearby that says " $ Help me get back to Ireland $ ".

•Do step by step research on the cheapest way to travel and lodge. Find out if it's cheaper to sail, fly, or ride a train. Then find out the cheapest dates to go, cheapest motels, and instead of dining out. Go to a market and get picnic types of food, that you could cook over a fire. There's an another idea...instead of staying at a motel, find a nice camping area.

Look into getting a job with one of the airlines. I have an Aunt that's a flight attendant and she can go anywhere she wants free.

Or look into becoming a Currier many travel opportunities in that line of work while getting paid.

Check out www.ireland.com and see if they have any discounted trips. You can also stay at hostels which are cheaper. Travel by bus, etc. to save on rental cars.

Here's a site that might help you with some of the language:

Why not check out their classifieds or see if there is an exchange program through either work or if you are in education, see if the gov't supports studies aboard for a year.

Look around for travel contests. I know people who enter contest as a hobby. Do some research into contests. There are people for whom this is a serious hobby. They win stuff fairly regularly because of the number of entries they mail out. It costs in stamps but it's fairly lucrative if you've got the right attitude and methodology.
