Wooden it is scary with all the creaking and groaning like it is going to fall. The steel coasters have more mobility and some go faster but they make you feel safer on them that takes some of the fear away inturn some of the fun.

Wood for purity and classic appreciation, Steel for speed and technology. You can't compare the two The feel and and sound of a wooden coaster is a completely different ride from the G's and and acrobatics steel can provide. It's like comparing a 57 belair to a viper, you love driving them both, but you can't detract from one to compliment the other.

I like the wooden ones at Holiday World, but the steel ones seems like they could do more in the area of upside down loops and stuff. I don't care really, they are all fun.

Ooh, they are both great. I find I like the steel ones better because they are usually faster and smoother. The wooden ones are awesome for the fact they are wooden, and can you imagine that one nail (or several) working it's way loose with every slight motion? It adds that extra dose of "darish risk" along with the audible creaking.

The Steel ones are faster and feel safer.....
But those old wooden ones are awesome when you can see the frames start to move and stuff.... it puts doubts in your mind about the safety

I choose steel for both also. Wooden is too jerky and it might scare the crap out of a first timer

Wooden!
I've been riding the Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz since I was a kid. That creak and shake that makes you think "is this thing gonna break" adds to the thrill.
