It depends on the purchase. Big purchase. Yes, definitely hold on the the receipt.
I also can be a compulsive shopper at times. So on those days I make sure I keep the receipts because I know may be returning some items next week.

I used to be really good at this. What I would do it put it in a small zip loc type bag and tape it to the item (if it was large and stationary) or tape it to the box it came in or the owners manual (which I also prefer to keep near the item like under it or behind, any where handy and out of site). Any time I have tried to keep the receipts in a separate file, they seem to get "swallowed up" into oblivion or forgotten about.

I usually don't but I have been trying to remember to do that b/c I have had to take a loss on something b/c I have thrown away the receipt. I would advise people to keep them. My mother always has but I just never picked up that habit lol

of course i keep the receipt in case when i change my mind i can still bring the merchandise to the store and get my exact repond or get the exact money that i pay to them include taxes...

I always do *Even have a reciept book* because 9/10 times I always end up hating what I bought...9/10 times I only buy the thing because I get caught up in the moment...
