It depends on the couple. My guy and me where together for 3 months when we moved in together. Then we later got married, so it can work early. Just make sure that you love the person, and that they love you.

That depends on the people involved, their situations, how they feel about each other, how comfortable they are with each other, how much they can share their life with someone 24/7 rather than being alone, etc.
My fiance and I met in June and moved in together in November of the same year. But, we felt totally comfortable with each other, trust each other implicitly, etc. He is 54 and I am 41 and we have both been married, so that also makes a difference.
Be sure of who you are going to move in with. Be safe, make sure you keep your own checking and or savings accounts in case something happens between you, talk a lot about it and be sure that it's something the two of you want and not just one of you, etc.

I assume your young especially to call them a mate. Now that your saying into an apartment I assume you live with your 'rents still. If this is the case, its not "when your ready" its when you have the finances.
I assume your first place will be 700/mo
Security Deposit will be 700/mo
Moving Fees & Gas will be 150
Research to find a place is gas & money 50
Subtotal: 1420
Now you'll need plates, dishes, detergant... other household items 200
You need groceries 100
You need a couch? 100-200
Do you have your own entertainment center & TV? 300-500
You see where this is going. To see if you can afford moving take how much your monthly rent is. Multiply it by 3.5 and thats how much money you need to move.
If you have that money, its time to move in!

Gwen and I spent about 18 months. We were at the same office and enjoyed most classical music,
Gilbert and Sullivan etc. We were walking in the Botanic gardens one day when we realized our kisses were now more than a mere peck.
We discussed the situation at length and decided to get a flat. It was the best time though her family despised us,even after her death.
The ending can best be summed up in the words of Trisha Yearwood's song. See

May you find love and joy together

He has to marry me first before I will move in with him anywhere. I don't go cheap or for free.
