I'm not sure about Austraila, but in the U.S. the only relationships that you can be protected from having to testify are husband/wife, priest/parishoner, lawer/client, and doctor/patient. If you have to say that he was self-destructive, then maybe you can also say that you believe that he's being framed.

It sounds like you deserve someone better. He probably has it coming, but honestly, I'd feel bad for the gay guys on craigslist. What did they do to deserve it, lol? Seriously though, skip the craigslist thing and just leave him if he's this disrespectful. It doesn't really sound like you've been romantic for 5 years if he's not been romantic or respectful of you. I was in a relationship that lasted 5 and a half years, but those last few years didn't feel very romantic and it ended. You deserve to be with someone who respects you, doesn't call you names and makes you feel special, not bad. If you get revenge, you'll be dragging this thing on and it will go in a direction that could be dangerous. Just get as far away from him as possible and ignore him. Heal from the breakup and the abuse and rebuild your self respect, self esteem, your body image, your positive attitude, your love of men and then when you are ready find someone new. Find a good healthy relationship. All being vengeful in this way will do is piss him off, which will create problems for you, and probably mess with the gay guys on craigslist, more than it will mess with him. Just dump him and avoid him. You'll feel better, you'll avoid a whole mess and you'll begin to move on with your life. So you had 5 years, you'll have 50 with a good guy. Find the good guy. Great comment on the Male Seeking Mail part too. Would that qualify as junk mail since it's unwanted? Best of luck. :-)

Yes, they can force you to enter court to testify on his character. However, liek others said, you can choose what to say. You can give the infromation you like, and you don't have to answer any questions.

Before they call you, they will try and contact you to see what you would say and decide if you are a risk or assit to there case.

They can force you into court, but what you tell them is up to you. You can tell the truth or lie. What kind of person are you? A truth teller or a liar?

If you refuse to tell the court what you know and they let him go and then he kills some poor person, it is your fault.
