I've never tried a thong and I'm not really planning to in the near future.
And I don't have anything against girls who do wear thong.
But the string part on the butt, doesn't it smell after wearing it??? I mean I think it's disgusting.

Girls wear thongs to get attention, but thongs are extremely uncomfortable. It's like having a wedgie 24/7 and EVERYONE knows that their butt looks saggy so a thong just makes ur butt look like it's sagging even more. Even models have saggy butts. Only ppl who have a really toned butt should be able to wear a thong, but I bet they wouldn't want something that uncomfortable. Sleeping with it at night makes u feel like u have an ultimate wedgie in the morning. When u get ur period, u cant use a pad. Tampons may leak and then it'd go directly into your pants. Regular underwear is way better. And when ppl say they wear thongs to get rid of panty lines.. PLEEEEEASE watever! Your pants don't have to be SOOO tight that ur panties show. I mean, u don't see a lot of women's bras poking out under their shirt, so shouldn't the same go for panties? No one wears an extremely thin bra. So no one should wear floss as panties.

I suspect they wear them to titillate men.
I have always thought panty-lines were cute. It's some dumb-assed commercial from way back that made women aware of panty lines in the first place. It was a marketing ploy and look at some of the other answers about panty lines. It is really disturbing to see a woman in a tight white skirt where you can see her thong and each mole and dimple on her rump. That's too much information!
I tried it once and had brought extra undies to change into "just in case," and by the time I got to my boyfriend's place 5 blocks away I was in pain. And I drove there!
I also imagine when a rectum is rubbed by a thong it gets filthy. GROSS!

no we do not wear thongs to "get or titillate men"...please, the world and women's actions do not revolve around men !! it's as simple as wanting your butt to to look smooth and panty line free in fitted clothes..a butt that's divided into four when you wear tight jeans and granny panties DOES NOT look nice !! and i would like to assume that people are actually showering before getting dressed so that should take care of the "smell". even if it doesn't, then i think if you are smelling your panties when you take them off your issue it not with the thongs but a weird compulsion !
and as for having our period and making a mess, take a look around the pharmacy...there are pads and panty shields specifically made for thong underwear.
if you're in pain then you're wearing the wrong type for your body or they're too small.
a nice alternative is the boy short.but most women find them very comfy, including myself.

Why thongs? No VPL (Visible Panty Lines).
While for some reason women think a Whale Tail is "sexy" I think it is tacky. (Whale Tail = Triangle of fabric of certain thongs seen above the belt line.)
But I DO love Muffin Tops. Very attractive.

Thongs in OZ are flip flops in US. Very confusing culture difference. Like when I told some american mates i was going to put some thongs on before meeting up with them... We call em g-string's tho. And yeah, i believe its an aquired taste for women (i've never tried one)

Ok... first off, it shouldn't smell unless you crap yourself. And personally, regular panties sometimes give me wedgies or ride up or in, and just bother me... lol. And yes, the panty lines and the cuteness of thongs is a positive too, but... for me, thongs are just the most comfortable. And that's more important than fashion to me anyways.

all the girls i have asked about that they say it is more comfortable wearing a thong so if i was you try it and if u dont like it dont do it any more it is your body and your clothes do what you want

To get rid of visual panty line... it makes pants and skirts look smooth and nice.... I guess so... but who is smelling.... and if someone is close enough to get a whiff i highly doubt that they woud be surprise and or mind for that matter.

I've tried 1 before and personally don't like it but if I'm wearing tight pants like sweat or workout pants then I will wear them just so people don't see the HIDEOUS underwear lines.
