Must not forget the black widow spider... this biting off the head of the male is part of the reproductive act. Most of the wild cat family will kill of any offspring of another male. Not for eating either. Then there are ants, bees, the list can get pretty long. This all being done at the visual scale or level.. What takes place at the microscopic level is something to behold.

You obviously have a very Disney-inspired view of the natural world. It would easier to list those very species that WON"T kill one another "for nothing".

Deer, cattle, rabbits, dolphins, kangaroos. crickets, rats and wolves to name just a few are all species that will kill any intruders if they can, and they never eat them.

Humans aren't in any way unusual. Can you actually name any species of mammal that DON"T kill members of their own species without eating them? I bet you can not name even one.

Praying Mantis' also eat right after sex. Unless the male is quick to escape!

But humans don't usually kill for NO reason. It might be twisted, but there IS a reason.

many animals kill the young just to prove they are boss. some mothers get as nutsy as the ones who kill their young, cats, dogs . etc. male lions kill cubs of other male lions, not to eat but just to show their line is going to dominate. the meerkat show shows them killing the young of minor females if the boss adult female considers it too much of a strain on the tribes resources. some birds through other birds babies out of the nest to kill them and lay their eggs in the nest so this poor bird raises their beastly brats. thats the coocoo. believe me there is cruelty in every animal in existance. however we are the most calculating.

most species compete and would kill each other if given the suitable conditions and enough time.
put some doves in a cage and soon they will peck each other to death.
humans simply have the means to kill each other much faster, we are good at killing everything, especially ourselves.

Just for the hell of it? They have done studies and still haven't figured out why those beta fish love to kill each other, you know, those frilly looking fish they sell in little cups.

We kill for a reason. Whether it be ideological or mates or food or power, we kill for a reason.

However, the closest would be frogs. Some frogs (as tadpoles) kill other frogs when they notice too many in the pond.
