Whenever I turn on my comp, and go to the task manager there is a program named ".exe" (with nothing before the . ) and my anti-virus programs have detected it to be dangerous. I wish to get rid of it but it still keeps starting up whenever my comp turns on again.
Does anyone know what this file is exactly and how to get rid of it? Once again, it simply appears as .exe in the task manager processes.

Go to start/run/ type ms config/ click the start up tab/ then find ".exe" in the list and uncheck it, and any thing else there you do not want, you can do a google search to look things up.
I think you have a virus! right click the my computer icon and go to properties (windows xp) disable system restore, then run your norton, if that cant cure your virus go to Panda and do a scan it removes allot of viruses but not spyware, use spy bot or adaware.

Run your AV and AS program and see if you are infected.

If not. Do a Google for WinTask Pro 5 and download the free trial. It will tell you what is does and whether it is needed or not.

I'd turn off system restore, go into safe mode and run the virus and spyware scanners. Plus, if you haven't already you can download Hijackthis.exe, let it run on start-up; it deletes unwanted programs too.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton or Mcafee to remove the virus, but you should pay for the software.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Try deleting it with your antivirus. If that dosent work search for it and delete manually. To end it in task manager go to processes, find it, and hit end process.
