I am an American student with an excellent GPA and high school transcript. I would love to attend a 4 year university outside of the US. Any part of the world would be great, although I am particularly interested Europe. Does anyone know of any good colleges for international students that offer financial aid to American students (I know that many universities don't offer much aid to Americans!!) Thanks!!!

How about Univerity of Lund? It's one of the best schools in the world. School in sweden is free, so you wouldnt even have to apply for financial aid. They only charge like 300 dollars per semester for some small fees. You'd still have to pay for your room, food & other living expensives.

You could study in Lund independently for 4 years, or transfer from an American university and study there for a semester.

Btw, you could have all your classes in english. Though they do require you to take beginning swedish. It takes about a year to learn enough swedish to be able to take classes in swedish.

I read somewhere that Karolinska Inst Stockholm University was the best school for medicine. Another good thing about living in sweden is that most people speak english as a second language. So you wouldnt have a hard time getting around for your first year until you learn swedish.

Well there are a few different American universities in Europe that offer a few selected programs, and a great cultural experience. Some include:
The American University in Paris
Richmond, The American University in London
The American University in Rome

While these schools might not be as prestigious as some other universities, classes would be taught in English with immersion programs into other languages (even if you already have knowledge of another language). The schools do offer small financial aid packages, but they are far and in-between, so search hard for outside scholarships.

Another option would be to go to a Canadian school. They are excellent and some, including the University of Toronto, McGill University, The University of British Columbia, and The University of Western Ontario, for example, are just on par with ivy league schools in the states and they would give you a taste into a different culture.

A third option would be to go to a U.S. school and then take a year or a semester to study abroad. While it might not give you the amount of length of a stay that you want, the immersion into a different culture will be quite worth it, and you will probably have more option of different places to choose from.

Good Luck with your decision.

Well studying overseas is a great experience. Apart from studying you'll get to know different cultures, people and become more independent. Take the chance and have no regrets. I am sorry i can not recommend a university though. Good luck with your decision.
