you may want to try a callous softener first then use the file after to remove the skin. You can try some of the same things you use on feet if the callouses are very bad. try sally beauty supply they sell a pumi stone but it's not really a stone it's like a hard foam block and it's great!!! I use it all the time on my feet. Use it right before you get out of the shower it gives the skin time to soften up before you use it.

maybe try those foot file thingys they sloughth off the dead skin they are like a mild sand paper on a stick or try this homemade sloughther (lol funny word) mix mineral oil and sugar together to make a paste it will be rough but rub it into your knees and then rinse with water this is awesome for hands it makes them very very smoth. after just keep applying a barrier on them like vaseline or a&d ointment. hope theese help.
