Although most goths have been through they're fair share of pain and suffering, you can be a goth without going through that. As long as you accept pain and death as a part of life, along with all the good stuff, you probably have the same world view as other goths. Being goth is being a modern day realist, whereas most of the population is happily in denial. Make the best of your insights, and do something creative with them.

I don't see the connection between pain and being a Goth. By the way, you cannot be a Goth because they no longer exist.

Goth isn't the dress freind its the inside. Thats what seperates the "posers" or scene goths from the real ones. The look is just to let everyone know where you stand and to tell them that it just dosent matter to me what you say anymore. SO yes you can be but I'd be careful who youd hang out with if you chose to do so.

Goth is a style. Being understanding and knowing that horrible things happen is just being in tune with your inner feelings.

No get a hammer and start pounding your head and hands. Then walk around in 100 degree weather with all leather and trench coat. Try not to get a tan either.
