my friend has a sore throat, inner ear aches, and puss pockets in her throat. docter say it's streph and she should feel better by the next day on ammoxcillan*(sp?) but 4 days later the pain has just increased...do you know what she has?

doc is probably right. strep can be baaaad juju if not treated. it could be that amoxicillin, which is one of the first line antibiotics, is not strong enough to kick this particular bug. she should NOT stop taking the amoxicillin. but she should let her doc know that she feels worse, not better. you should expect to feel better by the 3rd day in most cases. he'll probably change her scrip to something stronger; ceftin or azithromycin (which is formulated specifically for a variety of strains of strep).

well she shouldn't have a shore throat in her in her ears. antibiotics take a few days 4 to 10 days to fight the infection. that's if shes also not drinking if she's drinking alcohol it doesn't work start again

she needs to call the doc back and tell/him or her that that the antibiotic is not doing the trick they may have to prescribe stronger. i feel for your friend i know she's got to be miserable

Make sure she takes all her medication,and also go back and consult her doctor.

maybe its an middle ear infection with the strep.....
