Out on civilian highways... drag races test drives on driving ranges or racing on a speedway DO NOT count!

I think mine was 110 miles an hour... kinda scary doing it out in the open!!

AND YES... I know it was totally irresponsible, stupid, and childish, but I did it can't do anything about it now... on the other hand I'm a really good driver: never crashed in 7 years of driving!

Yes it was in the 70's. I was checking out my 1972 Dodge Challenger. My son was standing behind me reading the speedometer. I was going up a slight rise on I 5. and the road was clear. I just kept stepping a little harder while my son gave me a reading 80---85===90===95===100 The only difference I noted, was the steering getting a little stiff at 100MPH PS: I only pay auto insurance to pay for the other drivers incompetence. No accidents nor any faults since the end of WWII

back in 1974 i had a 64 Plymouth sport fury,,it had a police interceptor engine in it that we had bought it at a police auction,,i was clocked here in Tennessee on highway 63 doing 143 mph,,and got one big ticket for it,,i was 17 at the time,,young and foolish,,so i decided if i didn't get rid of the car i was going to get killed in it,,so i traded it off,,the boy i traded it to ,,2 weeks later was running from the law in it,,they clocked him at almost 150 mph,he lost control,,and hit a rock wall,,the estimated speed they said probably around 145,,when he hit the wall,,at least that's where the speedometer hand had lodged to in the dash,,he didn't make it,,it could have been me,,end of story,,speeding doesn't thrill me any more.

I had a '68 LTD with a 390 and 4 barrel carb at one time...got it up to about 115...so smooth I could hardly tell I was moving...but I decided I didn't like it that fast and backed down off it before I crashed or got one hell of a ticket.

A friend of mine who is a businessman took me for a ride in his Maserati at 170Mph. I'm not sure the car can go much faster. He let me drive it recently, but i was only willing to go 120 or so. That is fast enough!
