They would more than likely recognize that they are a sociopath, and not particularly care about it.They will often rationalize their behavior until their reasoning comes to a point where they can say 'But who wouldn't do that in my place?' with a big grin. They are known for being very charming and manipulative.

A true sociopath would not care. By definition, a sociopath is a very COLD person who lacks empathy. This is a kind of person that goes through life feeling very little if anything at all. It is possible that some of these men and women, would most likely have some insight into their condition. Yet, they would not care because they are emotionally unavailable.

No. Because the one thing that people are rationalists. For self preservation of the ego we rationalize our worst acts and thoughts. Rare is the time when you find someone that says, "I did a bad thing, I am a bad person" Even if they will confess to the bad thing, they will often say, ", but that doesn't make me a bad person". Self reflection and seeing ourselves as we really are is hard, now imagine a sociopath taking that step?

Ted Bundy knew he was one. He talked about it in detail about it in a biography written about him. Sociopaths are very smart and manipulative. They usually have an above average IQ. Yes, they do know, and they use their intelligence in that way.

I do not believe they would call themselves a sociopath, or would even look at themselves as one. They are self-centered as someone else pointed out, and yes, they are aware of what they do and enjoy it.

In this day and age with all the info, I believe they would know at least by their teens. Probably would not only know, but would enjoy their status very much.
