if is cranking is your timing belt, in this case you might have bent valves and your engine is pretty much garbage and will need an overhaul. (maybe try this first) If you turn your key just to hear the fuel pump pump fuel and you hear it the fuel pump is ok. If you dont get anything at all check your fuses. If all the fuses are ok but nothing at all check your antitheft to see if your battery on the remote is not done for, if not equiped with antitheft. Check that your vehicles gear shifter is not damaged and that is in park if automatic, try also in neutral. If your vehicle is manual make sure that your safety start clutch switch located either below or above the pedal is not damaged. If nothing here helped, WHY DID YOU BUY A JETTA?

NEED MORE INFO!!!!

could be sooooo many things...too hard to say what, and not enough space to type them all.

If near 100k miles, could be timing belt. D@#N expensive if it is since "engineers" think it's a good idea to build engines that will self destruct if the timing belt breaks. Course, us owners are supposed to replace the timing belts at 75K....but who honestly ever does that?
