I think that the reason is pretty clear in that they were able to eliminate Saddam Hussein who was really quite diabolical when it came to the persecution of minorities in his country. He also was quite a persecutor of women and all minorities actually.

It's not...if anything, it's in worse shape than before and it's even more of a breeding ground for terrorists now than it was before.

I personally get a huge kick out of listening to all these gov't officials claiming that Iraq is 'not' in the midst of a civil war. Do they really think the American people are that stupid or that blind? Do we need to send 'em a dictionary with the definition of "civil war" highlighted?

it's not. Were they better off today than 3 years ago. I don't think so. The terrorists just grew bigger since the invasion and American soldiers and the American people are paying for it right now

Well, it's better now for making reconstruction loans, and for construction contracts, and it's a much better place for sending soldiers and military hardware to. It's also a better place from which to launch military attacks on neighboring countries. And, with all those vacant lots in Baghdad, it's ripe for real estate development.

Or something like that....

You're right, it's worse off now. The only person to have benefited from it is Bush.
