nothing? Do you think that getting the world to hate Americans more is 'nothing'? I think it's something. It's not good, but it's something. Nothing would be better though....
no, we're not safer, the terrorists are more organised than ever and are learning how to deal with invaders and hide even better than before. Rather than a mish-mash of upset individuals, Bush has inspired people to form complex networks of disgruntled individuals who are finding bigger better ways to kill.
Bush is a religious man as we all know. I believe that he realises that if he were to catch bin Laden his arch-enemy would be gone and he'd lose a lot of his power. It's a classic good v evil situation and bin Laden is the perfect arch nemesis. Catching Saddam hasn't been great for his reputation either...

He's accomplished somethings, but nothing that he set out to do. We are no safer now then we were prior to 9/11. If anything, we're worse off because most americans live in this fantasy that because we haven't had another 9/11 style attack Bush has done a good job. People thought the same thing back in '93 when they made their first attempt at bringing down the WTC. Terrorists take a long view of things and we're rather shortsighted.
I will go on record and say that within the next ten years they will attempt another 9/11 scale attack on U.S. soil. It won't be as successful as 9/11 was because people will fight back, but it will still have a massive affect on the population.

It is the job of Politicians to state what they want you to believe rather than what reality will support. Otherwise, they'd be wrong all the time.
He really believes we're safer...as a result of the killing of Al Sarqawi and capture of Saddam. We know Saddam had nothing to to with 9/11 but he was involved in many other problems which were much more visible to members of the government and not the public.
Bin Laden is somewhere in the mountain region of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan. We haven't sent in 50,000 troops and armor to root him out because we can't invade another country just for .....you guessed it -one guy, as in Saddam. There is some kind of a secret deal between the US and the Pakistani president where they will do their best to assist us with identifying terrorist plots as long as we resist invading them to get Bin Laden. Because if we were permitted to do so, he would be replaced most probably by someone who would not be as favorable to us.
There are probably multiple plots going on at different stages. We in the public don't get to know until they get within 10% of implementing the planned action.

Oh, something was accomplished by bush. He was able to strengthen the Taliban, and he was able to get more money in his pocket by robbing Iraq of oil....
We are not safer. As you stated, take a look at what happen in London. bush caused this, not stopped it, but Republicans will never see it that way. They think if a Dem was in office, we would have been struck again. Good question.
To LEOGIRL: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? Where did you get a figure like 70%? And why all of a sudden bin Laden isn't worth worrying about? Wasn't he the "cause" of 9/11? You should stop reading Ann Coulter's book, because it's killing what's left of your brain cells. If you are thinking this up yourself, then never mind. Your brain cells are gone.

Maybe it's because he knows that a)he'll be out of office before too long, so it'll be someone else's Vietnow, and b)his use of fear is only accentuated in V for Vendetta. We have been brainwashed as a country. We sit back and get breastfed our information and take it as the gospel. The Gospel, aka the Bible, is a prime example. There are people who walk this earth that believe the Bible is the word of God. The Bible is a work of man....namely, of men who witnessed acts that they could not comprehend and called it God's work. IF it were, in fact, God's word, He wouldn't have allowed it to be destroyed when the various versions of the Bible were compiled and the things that were against what was being pushed onto the people were burned. Don't you think God would've told people about dinosaurs? The evils of war and oil? No prophets in the Bible saw this happening. Botttom line, nothing may be as it seems or as believed. Wanna find out more angles? Go to Google video and DL "Loose Change." See things differently and interpret them for yourself.

Bin laden is most likely dead...he has to have kindeny dialosis every day. The taliban is gone for good...I don't know were you are getting that from. 9-11 was planned years in advance who say that they haven't been planning this one for a long time. The are terrorist cells. The operate independently from anyone else.

Im not a supporter of Bush but things take time but you cant demand instant results. I do blame bush for making promises that arent neccessarily easy to keep and labelling something mission accomplished when really, its not that simple. Its a tough place we're in and I dont think US should expect to get out of it soon.
Reponse to leogirl's post: we care about Bin Laden because hes the one that attacked us.

The Mission accomplished was the toppling of Iraq government. You can believe what you want in the regrards to terrorism. but we have shut 70% down with the efforts of the war on terrorism. Who the hell cares about bin laden. Personally I think he is held up in a palace or nice home in Iran. who cares?
