A call center is owned by a company to do either telemarketing or to offer customer service. So when you call ABC company for help with your broken whatchamacalit, your call doesn't actually go to the company's building but to a call center.

When you're sitting at home having a nice dinner with your family and your phone rings with a telemarketer on the line, they are usually calling you from one of these "call center" places. They all sit in a large cubicle filled room while attached to headsets, waiting to disturb your peaceful life with some sort of sales pitch.

call centre is a remote centre working for its clients. it is the reception desk to answer queries from customers. instead of making heavy investment on their front office, foreign multi national companies do have these call centres located elsewhere. like hiring security staff externally, imagine hiring the front office itself. physically these front office are situated at a distance not known to the clients. don't be surprised that when a client rings up to a star hotel in New York the answer is actually perhaps given from Timbuktu in Africa, provided this five star hotel has arrangement with a call centre located at Timbuktu

A place where calls are made and received. It's usually for outsourced customer service or telemarketing. They won't exist in the US in ten years though. They're all moving to India because labor is cheaper there.
