Everyone involved bares some blame. In order:

1. Hezbollah deserves the most blame. They triggered the conflict by continuously firing rockets across the border and then being so bold as to cross the border to kill and kidnap soldiers. The entire world pretty much recognized that Israel has a right to defend itself in this situation. If you beat a bee hive with a stick long enough, eventually you will get stung - bad!

2. Iran deserves a great share of the blame because they arm and support Hezbollah, and encourage them to attack Israel knowing that when Israel counter-attacks it will be the Lebaneze who suffer.

3. The Lebaneze citizens also deserve blame because they support and cheer Hezbollah, allowing them to live and operate among them, deliberately using civilian homes and buildings as shields.

4. Finally, yes, Israel is also to blame. Americans understand that Israel is brutal and we understand that they have thousands of Lebanese prisoners who should be returned home. We also understand that Arabs may never accept that Israel owns the land it is sitting on.

When forced to take sides, most Americans side with Israel. Why? Because of 9/11. Because of Osama Bin Laden. Because there are tens of thousands of Arab terrorists running around the World killing innocent civilians. Every time an Arab terrorist kills one person, 50,000 Arabs are ultimately going to die for it. Is this right? No. Is this just? No. But it is reality. 3000 people died in New York on 9/11, but 150,000 Arabs have died in Iraq and Afganistan as a result - and you have Osama Bin Laden to thank for that.

I don't know how to end the cycle of violence in the middle east, but I do know that at this particular point in history, Israel and the US have a lot more military power than Arab nations - so the Arabs are going to lose a lot more people.

I think it would be in the best interest of all Arabs to STOP supporting Arab terrorists and seek diplomatic solutions to their problems. Terrorists will only bring more death and suffering to Arab countries.

Hizballah is a terrorist group doing what it does best, terrorizing the people of Israel and Lebanon. Israel as it has done is the past and continues to do, is fighting for its right to survive. Radical Islam has claimed that Israel has no right to exist and does not in fact exist. Look at any map made in an Muslim controlled state. I bet you 10 to 1 Israel is not on it... Terror is evil. You may hate me for saying it, but seeing as how they are the ones committing all the terrorist acts I must conclude, Hizballah is evil, and they are at fault. They should be "eradicated" by Israel and Lebanon together, and allow the Lebanese people and Israel a modicum of peace.

Justice, humanity, human rights, rule of law, - all these big words are now the contents of history.
The so called civilization is turning back to its old age. "Might is right" policy has now become the order of the day. The UN resolutions and the act of peace process, as we all see, are simply hypocrisy and eyewash of the big powers.
Does it really matter who is at fault or who is not!
Keep on fighting for your survival as its happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine & Kashmir. Very soon, you may find it even in Iran, Syria and Pakistan also. You shouldn't get shocked, if the list continue to be longer even.
We definitely understant your pains & sufferings. We feel extremely sorry, under the situation, for not being able to give you an unswer, that could help relieve your pains.

I'm glad Israel is taking care of Hezbollah, let them police their own region.

Here is one for the people against Israel. If Hezbollah is not the problem, then why is their military response blindly firing rockets into civilian areas? Israel's military is not mixed into the populace like Hezbollah and other terror groups. Their defense is purposely killing civilians in civilian areas.

Margaret-Americans have been killed by terrorists frequently over the last 30 years. Hijacked airliners in the 70's, African embassies bombed in '98, Marine barracks bombed, World Trade Center bombing in 1993, etc., etc., etc. We have been on the offensive, Israel has been on the offensive, the more of the enemy we take out, the better.

Hopes and wishes of peace solve NOTHING. We have to make it happen.

Semper Fi.

Israel has not to start this war,
but it achieved its goal, to bomb and kill civilians and children and destroy the infra structure of a peaceful country and then to prove that it is the monster of the region , the brutal enemy who can do anything to tell about its brutality, I wonder if any of you see the Israeli children pictures when they were writing on the bombs and missiles " to the children of Lebanon with love" and then the war planes took care to deliver the messages (see link please) , of course this is just a sample!! http://www.souriaheart.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=26385
Hezbollah, had to reply on this brutality and to missile the cities in Israel, (they say an eye for an eye) and as the Hezbollah leader said: " we are not revenging, but we are trying to stop the Israeli brutality and aggression"
by the way Lebanon doesn't have a real army troops, they are more or less policemen!!!

Repeat question? It is not a war between Israel and Lebanon, is is between Israel and Hezbollah..Hezbollah occupies Lebanon and it is happening because Hezbollah attacked Israel....if Lebanon and it's army would pull their heads out and join the effort, Lebanon will stop getting attacked..

My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your uncle in Beirut. Grief from the loss of a loved one lasts a lifetime. Property can be restored. No one wins in a war. It does not matter who was at fault.

The only way for peace in the Middle East is for the messiah/mahdi to come. Islam, Judaism and Christianity have messianic beliefs.

It is hard to say who is at fault, we have been in Iraq for the last how many years, many deaths later, mostly children...we were involved in the 1st Gulf war in 1990, and the 911 attack was America's 1st tragedy since, Pearl Harbor. Many wars later and attacks against different countries, it is hard to say who is at fault, I think we all need to pray for world peace, regardless of our beliefs, religion, faith and differences. The constant wars between different countries is getting out of hand, and all violence needs to end, we are simply killing off our children.

Could have been avoided. The war did not achieve the taget releasing the prisonner. They know they can not achieve that goal.
If we put the PM and Bush on the frontline, these stupid wars will never happen.
