Fast food places like Dunkin Donuts if I am not eating there I won't tip. The only service they are giving you is handing you the donuts that you paid for. I feel the same with Subway. Even though they are making your food for you, you are standing right there and pay for your food at the register and they you take your own tray to the table and sit down and you get your own drink. And then you even bus your own table when you are finished. They are not doing anything "above and beyond". Where do you draw the line? In a dept store would they have a tip bottle for just ringing up your items for you?

I don't make it a habit to tip unless they are "serving me". I don't think taking my order and ringing it up should be considered "service". The only exception I make is at my local drive-thru coffee hut. I will usually drop some change in their jar but that is only because they are REALLY friendly and the cute guy flirts with me. Oh and he knows my car and has my coffee already made for me by the time I get to the window. He deserves a tip for that.

i work at a place that is like starbucks but we make smoothies instead...we have a tip jar but it's not like i get an extra $20 or $30 a night...i usually get around $7 a night and i don't mind because I use that money to buy myself lunch the next day...some people tip just for the heIl of it and others tip if they see me add some extra fruit or if i make their smoothie real good

I worked in Dunkin Donuts as a kid and we would only get tips if a person sat at the counter and we poured him coffee and served him food. I am a big tipper in restaurants but REFUSE to tip someone for handing me a cup of coffee I must then add cream and sugar to myself.

i won't use them. i tip at least 20% at restaurants and give delivery people (like pizza) good tips as well, but i don't think it's right in fast food restaurants. i feel the same about tip jars in casinos where they count your money. why am i tipping someone to count my money when that's their job?

It is tasteless. I ignore the tip jars. Why should we pay for something they are suppose to be doing? I understand tipping the servers but not the people at the cashiers.

The tip jars at fast-food joints is the dopiest thing I've ever seen. Rude employees, bad food, no service, and they can't even get my change right.
NO TIP FOR YOU !!!

i think its a good idea they do put in some extra effort to perpare your food like subway, pp johns, or any small fast food place, other than the multibillion dollar ones you know them by macds, bbkings, tacobell, etc i would not personally tip anyone at those places.

I think they are a good idea. You are not expected to put a tip in it but if the person who helped you or the entire staff was helpful, the option is there.
