Let the number be equal to say x

x-10 = 1/2 * ( 30 + 10) - x

x = 10+1/2(40) - x

x = 10 + 20 - x
adding 'x' to both the sides,

x+ x = 30 - x + x

2x = 30 (as +x - x = 0)

x = 30 / 2

= 15.

x = 15

So the answer , the number = 15.
