when someone says quarter of 6, what time is that equivalent to? 5:45 or 6:15

Either 6.15 a.m or p.m depending on the time of asking. Of means an addition or multiplication there to.

quarter past 6 = 6:15

WELL, technically, if you take into account how you worded the question, "quarter of six", the answer you are looking for is 1.5, 6/4=1.5, now, if you are asking what does quarter til six mean, then the answer will be 5:45
