Why do people who aren't Americans believe we care what they think of us?

Just wondering, because I see a lot of anti-American crap and Bush bashing done on this site by people who aren't Americans.

Do they really believe that we care what they think?

That's the reason they don't like us because a lot (not all but some) of Americans don't give a rat's *** about the rest of the world and what they think about us or anything else.

I'm not one of those people, but I'll explain it to you.

The people posting those comments don't care if you care about what they think. It's not aimed at you, it's more of a social commentary, and the reason this happens is because the U.S. influences and affects almost all countries in this world. So, its president and financial state also affect other nations.

For example, the U.S. is Canada's biggest importer, so the minute something goes awry between the Canadian PM and the US President, you get people talking. Many factors affect a political relationship, which then affect a country's economic state. If Canada had to cut down on its exports to the U.S. that would affect Canada economically, and socially.

On an another level, just take a look at the wars. A war is not an issue to be taken lightly, especially when it involves the world's superpower.

I dont want to get into serious politics, but there's a reason why people do this...there's also many supporters...so it goes both ways.

As a country, we need to care what other countries think of us if:

1. We want to maintain our alliances as they are now and restore broken ones.
2. We want to be competitive on a global level in everything from education to selling the best products to athletics
3. We want to be able to fight and win the war on terror.

Trust me . Everyone cares what others think of them. It is a human nature. If you haven't cared you wont be asking this question and these guys wont be answering. They say they don't care because they don't like what they hear from others.

yes they think that but i think we care because if you read some of the answers to these questions us americans get really mad at what they say if we did not care we would not get so angry in our answers so i think somewhere deep inside we do care
