In most cases yes, tap water is better. In fact, some bottle water is tap water. Look for Municipal source on the ingredients label.

Watch the funny 12 minute clip below. It's from the HBO TV show " Penn & Teller's Bullshit!" It will explain all of this in detail.

DEPENDS ON THE SOURCE.
In some places, the tap water is really good. I lived in a place where it came straight from an underground spring. incredibly pure, nothing added to it, just monitored for safety.
Another place I lived, the arsenic in the ground AND tap water was at/just over the max, even with treatment.
And some bottled water IS just plain old tap water.
Only one way to be sure: Check the label on the bottle & find out about the company that produces it (any citations, etc), them get the latest water-quality report for the city-well you're on and compare the two.

Bottled water does not have to meet the same purity standards as tap water.

Bottled (spring) water is really just taken from a hole in the ground. No telling what's in it.

- check the source of your bottled water.. if it is from a good source/company, yes it will have less chemicals and garbage than tap water
- tap water runs through old pipes and water systems, so it also picks up a lot of garbage on the way to your tap
- look into getting a water filter or filter jug for drinking water.

Municiple water also has things added to it that you may not want....they say they have added "floride" to the water, but who knows what else they have added. I think they just want you to keep on using their water so they can charge you for it. If you like tap, then stick to that. I mean, who knows what they are sneaking into our bottled water, right? Wow...I'm sounding paranoid......LOL Water is water.....drink what you like best.

From what I saw in a recent tv show, they concluded that tap water is better because it contains flouride to help protect your teeth from plaque. The bottled water does have it as well but not as much. I hope this helps.

Dead on. The other thing is that people fill the bottles up with water and the water that results is not fit for human consumption because of bacteria etc.

Bottled water has less rescrictions than tap water, so the bottled water companies can have more stuff in the water.

That's the first I've heard of this. I would say it depends on the bottled water in question, and the quality of the local water source.

--Iron, Copper --- depends where you live
I prefer to drink bottle water b/c it tastes better

And flouride is in tap water as well as calcium
