Value, Value, Value. Depending on what you are selling, you have to give the buyers a reason to do business with you. In the case of Me-as-a-tree, although I think his idea has merit, he is creating perceived value although I think most ebayers are savvy shoppers and that will end up having negligible effect. The same goes for the overpriced shipping and handling charges. People aren't stupid.

Like everything, you need to research and target the right market for the product. I would at least do a "completed listing' search under the "advanced search" option and you will be amazed at how many listings don't sell in any one category. Try it and you will see that the majority of listings don't sell. You can tell by the red or green highlighted prices. They are green if the item sold and red if it didn't.

A strategy that I successfully used is to post a relatively high "buy it now" price, which sort of sets a value on the item. Then, use a starting bid price that is just a little below the minimum that you are willing to accept, or even start the bidding at the that minimum price. Now, what you have is an item where the bidding will start at an acceptable price, and will appear to be a bargain compared to the "buy it now" price, which is higher than what you are expecting, anyway.

Good luck.

Hi, perhaps you can try Google adwords to market your service/product.

Google adwords is a text-based system for advertising on its site and its partner sites. The service allows you to create your own ads, choose keywords to help match your ads to your audience, and control the cost of your advertising—you pay only when people click on your ad (a cost per click plan). Anyone wishing to promote a product on Google can enroll in this program.
