Yes I recently read a review of the Ford Escape Hybrid and during the testing the reporter actually took it off road, but gas mileage was significantly lower like 13 mpg instead of like 35 mpg. Some hybrids use say the gas engine to power the rear-wheels and electric motors to power the front wheels not making it a true all wheel drive car, so i don't know if all can go off road. The Ford Escape on the other hand is apparently a true all wheel drive SUV.

Well no suv is really design with the intention to race in dirt roads, however they are ready to be modified to be run in dirt roads. If you plan to take your suv dirt riding at high speed also remember that this will void your warranty (computers dont lie). If you take it easy while driving on dirt roads meaning at a slow speed taking care not to damage components thats what a high ride and long wheel base you paid for can be fun, and yes hybrids can also be used this way.

Why would you not be able to? Of course you can drive a hybrid on any road that you can drive a comparable non hybrid!

Sure. By definition SUVs are designed for offroad use although very few owners actually use them offroad.

Uh yeah. Why wouldn't they? They're not like the RC cars you drove in your backyard as a kid.
