You will find it cheaper to use a larger engine than to mod the little one.
Power is proportional to compression ratio assuming all else is constant. That will up octane requirements of fuel. High octane gasoline is sold at the airport.

add pulleys, to maximize the output and once you reach that then you getting into airmods, and cooling system mods that in an aircooled 5.5 will just be ineficient. Move up to a 18hp or 27hp and it will be work doing the airmods and cooling sytem.
