So....the first day of school is tomorrow.Today I get phonecall from my friend and shes like OMG I have the best idea. Lets dress like losers for the first week and put no effort into our outfits. Then when week two comes along we can start bringing out the True Religions and 7FAMs. I dont know what I think about it. Do you think thats a good idea

depends on how old you are. you sound really young (like 12), so it should be okay. if you're around 8th grade or older, it's a bad idea. you want to make a good impression toward your teachers. you have to be with them all year, so you don't want to give them the wrong idea. "it's just one week" isn't a good excuse. 1st impressions last in people's minds.

i'm going into 10th grade and i'm dressing like myself the 1st day (and everyday for that matter). i personally don't think it's a good idea.
don't let peer pressure get to you. they might get mad, but they can get over it. your grades matter more than a silly fight that she will forget about in a few days.

It's been a while since I was in high school or middle school, but my impression is that she doesn't have new school clothes so she is trying to get you to dress down so she doesn't feel like an idiot.
My girl friends and I did a similar thing for prom, though. A week before prom we dressed down and didn't wear a lot of make up. Our rationale was that if our dates got used to seeing us like that, on prom night we'd knock their socks off. Not sure if it worked though.

NO! First impressions are very important. Dress like a loser and some will think of you that way the rest of the year no matter what you do.

Um...that sounds a bit immature to me. How does a loser dress??? If an outfit is what makes a person a loser these days, then I guess there are LOTS of them out there. Who gives a crap what clothes someone wears, their clothing is not what makes them a loser. What a loser is is someone who goes around making fun of others and downgrading others just to make themselves look cool or just to make others miserable.

I am sorry but styles just do not cut it and make a person truly cool.

I think that you should be yourself and dress how you'd like to dress, not how your friend wants to dress. If you feel comfortable in new clothes on the first day of school, then get them. If not, then stick with something you already have in your closet.

why would you deliberately want to be labeled a loser the first day? Think about it first. It is a label that will be hard to get rid of. Save it for dress down day, if you have them in your school.

I would follow your gut on this and dress the way you feel because your friend may not show up dressed like a looser. Anyway, I say start the year out right and dress normal and just be yourself.

OMG I have the best idea! Tell your friend to get a life, and just dress like you normally do!
