I think those of you in US are just like any other people in other countries. It is just that your government is projecting an image that is not very welcomed to the people of the world especially the Third World people.
But the most inexcusable act of your government is its support for the Zionist regime of Israel even after all the atrocities they've caused to the people in Middle East. How could they unabashedly declined for resolutions after resolutions to stop Israeli attacks and invasion on Palestianians and recently on Lebanon.
Your country or more precisely, your government claims to be the champion of human rights but look at what they've done to the innocent people of Afghanistan, Iraq and to the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib.
Another thing about the US is its constant fear of being a terrorist target despite of all its military safeguards. One reason for this is the sense of guilt that they have because they know that to support Israel is against the stance of the vast majority of the people of the world. But instead of stop supporting Israel and start acting as a responsible "superpower", they start being paranoid out of this feeling of guilt.
So I would have to say that it's not right to blame US citizens for the action of their government. But think about it, who chose the Government in the first place. America is a democracy not a dictatorship, so if you don't like what your government is doing, voice them out. It's your right!!
If I were asked "What is the one most important thing our society needs?"
I would have to say "That would be a just and upright government and WORLD PEACE!!!" *sound of applause*

Personally I am pleased to say that I respect and admire the American people as a whole.
In every culture you will have the ratbags and politics are not always the true reflections of the people.
I may be wrong but I believe that you do not have compulsary voting as we do in Australia. This can be good and bad at the same time, but if all people of a country vote, it has to be a true reflection of what the people want. If its not compulsary, it makes people lazy and complacent, leaving others to vote and then regretting the party that gets in and their policies that follow.
I believe that the US is doing the best they can in this world of turmoil.
They get slagged by other countries and the media seems to be so one sided, which is not the way journalism is supposed to work.
You have built a great nation and should be proud of it, jealousy and hatred will always be there, just ignore it and know that we dont all think that way.

Globalization can not help the united statesA. as long as there's a commerce deficit. If the U.S. made products have been being offered globally then it can be a various tale. the only factor approximately globalization that could desire to help the united statesA. is that we live out of the "international village", withdraw from the U.N. and deport the unlawful extraterrestrial beings and liberals.

i live in Turkey.
We fought together during Korea. We used to see you as real allies and also friends for a long time.
But those days have gone now.
We know that you have supported the kurdish terrorist organization PKK(which is accepted bye CIA as a terrorist group).
Another reason is you are not leaving the ''Armenian Genocide'' crap to historians but you use it against us politically.Where is the democracy dude? Why don't you call comissions of historians all around the world and let them decide?(you'll be amazed when you see so many armenian historians running away)
Third,in my country everybody thinks that you have nothing to do with WMDs or terror but the only thing matters is oil.
But culturally there are some nice things like your music or your movies.(blues is great ;) )
And as i see from other posts most of the American people like to talk about an issue without having proper knowledge. That's because they don't have to.Everything is organized for them and they don't have to think much.
I don't want to make it a long and boring thing.
In conclusion;
-i don't trust your government.
-i like your music and movies
-i have a sympathy to black people living there
-i respect all your scientists' achievements for humanity.
-and i think one day US will understand that with great power comes great responsibility ;)

I was going to say I think most people like the American people per se, not all of course, but then Americans probably don't like all the world's people either, however be that as it may, most of the world has more problems with governmental policy than the people themselves.

I'm a deep-thinking individual who judges every nation by it's beer. American mass-market beer is rubbish but there are some rather good small brews

-Most Americans are:
ignorant, materialistic, gun crazy, violent, alcoholic, superstitious (religious),egotistic, greedy, poorly educated, militaristic, sexually obsessed, viscous, jingoistic, power mad, short term orientated, anti-community ( favouring the rights of the individual over the rights of the masses), anti intellectual. anti-environmental, unimaginative sheep. I am happy I got out of that country.
