My husband's work shirts are pure cotton polo style shirts. I have been using Shout to spray the armpit of the shirt prior to washing it but I've noticed that whenever I am ironing them, they still have that underarm odor. I am using a good detergent but it still doesn't get rid of the odor completely. Any tips?

We've tried several deodorants but he puts out fires for a living, so he sweats a lot.

Wet the underarms with vinegar and then sprinkle baking soda on the vinegar. The vinegar will neutralize the odor. Let it set for a few hours then wash.
Hanging them in the sun for a day will also work...then wash.
You might also spray Lysol spray on them to and let set a few min. before washing...
Make sure the deodorant he is buying says Anti-Perspirant & deodrant...
Good luck
reading this website might help you with deodrant...

Here's what works for my husband's shirts: 20 Mule Team Borax. Soak the shirts in the washer in warm water with the correct amount of borax (read the directions on the box) for at least one hour and then add a little regular detergent and wash as usual. Make sure the rinse is cold.

You might try adding pure borax (Boraxo, 20 Mule team) to the start of your laundry. It freshens, boosts the cleaning power of your detergent and leaves all the fabrics in far better condition than bleach. Perhaps it is also time to change the brand of deodorant your husband uses. We use that stuff that comes in either a crystal or liquid suspension of same. It's really good and doesn't leave marks on the clothes. It's made all the difference in my husbands' wardrobe. Very best wishes!

Make sure your not overfilling the loads that will make a huge difference in cleanliness. Secondly use an enzyme based detergent to really get the odor out, nothing with just scents that mask. Third you can make a presoak paste out of baking soda and a couple of teaspoons of water, apply liberally and rub in, this should kill all the odor making bacteria.

the hardship-unfastened smell that comes out of your underarms is generally brought about the with the aid of the somewhat micro organism that style around it, a minimum of that's what i replaced into taught in anatomy & physique shape. If the smell is coming from this, i've got heard of "smell crystals" that artwork properly, or utilising milk of magnesium and different such recipes. yet as others stated, it ought to be out of your weight loss application too. additionally, in case you drink alcohol a lot, that could make a contribution. I went via a era the place i replaced into lushing it up surprisingly many times and that i observed I sweat and stunk a lot extra. I had to place deodorant on on occasion two times an afternoon. yet that all and sundry went away once I decrease down on my eating.

Gotta buy new shirts. Thats what most guys do. Theyre cheap anyway so I guess its not so bad. Nevermind... I thought you meant like Hanes undershirt style. Looked right over that polo part. I do know my shirts end up smelling like my deodorant. Old Spice Red Zone. Get him some of that. Good luck.

Your husband could use a stronger deodorant like Certain Dri from CVS. It will make his shirts smell less.

Get your husband to wash his armpits with lemon during his shower. Do this for one week and you'll notice the difference.

If you are washing in cold water, try washing in warm or hot. Just make sure you keep colors matching in the load.
