No one knows. Theories and beliefs won't satisfy a true open mind. What you can do is die every day. Die each moment to the past so you live fully without being dragged down by unnecessary baggage. Drop the past.
More important than hearing someone say reincarnation is true or not is having a frame of mind that lives each moment and having the attitude that is ready to face death.
The openness to be able to let go in the face of your death is more important than knowing what happens after the body dies. Then with this let go and peaceful attitude(seeing death as just another part of life; an adventure) you will find out what happens after you die. If anything happens at all.
You have to be a light unto yourself.
Good question.

This is a question of religion. I believe that life continues after death but it is like a trip to Asia or to Africa from which you can't return or communicate with those who have been left behind.
It is also like moving from grade school to intermediate or high school. You have more advanced problems in math but if you keep studying you can get an "A" in Calculus or Differntial Equations.

Oh yeah! http://www.reversespins.com/patton.html
If you go to this website you will read about George Patton who is also Hannibal of Carthage in his previous life. Just like some Tibetian monks. They come back again and again to finish what they are supposed to do in this plane. So, read everything from the site regarding George Patton and Hannibal. Very interesting.

It would be comforting to belive so, but I haven't seen the evidence for it. I understand the concept of karma insofar as our current actions affect our subsequent thoughts and actions, but as to what is reborn after the death of the physical body, I am more sceptical. I still think that one day it may be shown that imagination and faith are actually matter -- chemical reactions in our brains. We're not there yet, so we're tempted to assign mystical and religious meanings to things we don't understand.

In bhagvat gita, krisna says to Arjun, that I have born many times and you also have born many times. But only I know this , you do not know what your other births are.
A person is born with his/her nature , and fate.
we all are born and reborn to enjoy or suffer the fruits of our deeds.
It is due to our nature that we all do different things, and add up to our good or bad fate.
If our deeds are good our fate gets better, and we are born again as human beeing to enjoy a better fate.
Bad deeds can wipe out our good fate and we are reborn as other than human to pay for our deeds.
when we fully pay off our bad deeds, we are again born as human.
In human life we can improve our fate by good deeds, and in next human life we enjoy more and suffer less.
This sounds like good or bad credit we create for our financial life
Even the medical science now accepts that the soul goes to acentral place after the death, and then it is directed to a different body. MY doctor son told it to me one day.
