Boys, 6 and 9 years old. Texas (i.e. hot). Money's not a big issue. We're tired of 6 flags, etc. Any ideas?

At home - get them a video game system or buy them a new one. Install a pool so they can go swimming at home - that keeps kids busy for hours on end and tires them out.
Have you tried taking them to any types of local fairs, sending them to daycamp/regular camp, going to the beach, taking a family vacation somewhere. Going to the movies is also a good option, or maybe a science center type of thing (not sure if they have them in Tx).

have them collect rocks and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, Place in oven at 225 degrees. Take out after 10-15 minutes. Have them draw on rocks with crayons and they will melt and make swirly designs all over the rocks.. Glue eyes on and they are pet rocks.. Cool! Buy a Swimming Pool, and fill it up and have them dive for things in it. Make a buried treasure get junk from the dollar store, and hide them throughout the house. Make a map with "clues" and have them hunt for the treasure! Buy a cake mix and make cupcakes.. fill halfway, and put gummy bugs and worms inside.. then fill up to the top. Have them feed them to their friends and Gross them out!
Make homemade Pizza. Buy English Muffins, A jar of Spaghetti sauce, Mozzerella Chz, and toppings.. they can make their own..
GO to the circus, or see if their are any festivals in town. Go bowling. SIgn them up for Karate lessons they will benefit for life.. Just a few ideas.

Try www.crayola.com there are plenty of ideas there to keep kids busy and they are not that pricey either. Its a double bonus because the things they make can be put in a scrapbook or in a keepsake box and shown to them many years later.

Try the cincinati zoo. I always loved that place when i was a kid. Either that or if you want some wuality time with your old man... Buy a trampoline or a dog...
