I have read: It is not that you are having dreams that predict the future - what is happening is that your memory is suddenly "jogged" when an event you dreamed about does happen. We have thousands and thousands of dreams and the vast majority of them we do not remember or forget quickly. There is a high probability that something you have dreamed about will happen - and when it does it can cause us to recall our dream and think that it was a premonition. The only way to disprove this would be to keep a dream journal. For the record, I like the idea of dream premonition but when I read this theory it made sense.

Keep a notebook and a pen next to your bed. Every morning when you wake up write down the dreams you had that night. That will train your unconscious mind to see dreams as important things that should be remembered.
Personally I have the opposite problem, I can remember my dreams, but they're so whacked I can't interperet anything from them.

because you are human. Even if you realize things too late, but do actually realize them, there is no guarantee that you will remember realizing things the next time you end up realizing things too late. I wouldn't spend too much of your energy dwelling on this, as realizations are usually paired with one specific experience, and, of course, the moment.

Keep a dream journal by your night side table. Write in it as soon as you wake up. If you don't write in it as soon as you wake, you'll be more inclined to forget your dream as the day progresses.
