Depends on the make and model, but a lot of them do both. There may be an exhaust setting on yours, in which case, a small door would open that would carry the inside air out, and pull outside air in. If there is no exhaust setting, then it most likely just recirculates the interior air after it's cooled and dehumidified.

Air Conditioners remove heat from the inside and blows it out on the outside, So it recirculates the inside air...

Greets....
Corkys got it right.... depends on make and model.... If it does not have a knob/button/lever that says "outside air" - or words like that then maybe not. Or, it is internal, and for that you have no control, you'll need to do a web search for that manufacturer and see if some kind of specs are out there....
If it is new... then just find the store that sells em and they should be able to find out. if it is internal or not.

Hope this airs out well for ya....

There should be a knob that changes back and forth from inside to outside air. If not it recircs inside air which is better any way.

for it to condition the room air, it draws it in through the front, loses moisture and blows that conditioned air out the front by the coil.(the coil being cold)

Once this air being drawn in is cool enough, the stat blub will shut off the compressor.

beginning abode windows on the choice sides of the room will draw air into the room. shop the warm sunlight out. container followers are stable to apply. they are in a position to be put in front of abode windows or in a window. Making ice in gallon plastic jugs and soda bottles and putting them in a field in front of a fan will help. eating ice water, something chilly and iced tea will help. putting chilly rags on the brow and rubbing the hands enables too.
