I'm assuming Windows here... correct me if I'm wrong...

I have successfully moved programs with a multi-step process...

(1) Copy the physical directory that contains all of the files onto the new drive.

(2) Adjust the shortcuts on your desktop or in the "Start->Programs->Whatever" folder to point to the new location. If you keep the same hieracrchy when you move them (i.e. it was c:\program files\whatever\file.exe, then you can simply right click on the short cut and change it to d:\program files\whatever\file.exe) then this is simple.. but make sure that the links are correct with wherever you move them)

(3) Open the registery editor (Start->Run->regedit) and search for "C:\Program Files\Whatever" and change all references to match the new location. Anything that follows "Whatever" should still be there, but make sure that the path is correct. Use search and use F3 until it comes back with "Nothing Found". Then repeat to make sure you didn't miss anything.

This has worked for me with games like Neverwinter Nights and Deus Ex 1 and Invisible War... I won't promise that you might not also have to edit some ini files in the programs settings directory, but so far, I've been lucky and the above has been sufficient.

hope this helps!

If you have the original disk, uninstall the program and reinstall it making sure that you select the c drive (usually under program files) as the location to install it.

Copy and paste will not work, it any information in the registry for that program will be wrong and may keep the program from running.

If you can see both drives from My computer (if they are working you should) its just a matter of copy and paste.
