Since Dalton scientists have known that the four Aristotlean elements was nonsense. There are 117 or so known elements, of which about 90 are naturally occuring.

Humans are made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, phosphorus, iron, and a number of other elements in smaller amounts.

However, yes, we can manipulate elements. We can force atoms to undergo nuclear fission and fusion. For example, if we throw neutrons at Uranium-235, it becomes Uranium-236, which is unstable, and undergoes fission to become Xenon-140 and Strontium-94. Berylium-7 undergoes fission to become Lithium-7.

I agree with the essence of the answer given by Beiterspace. Yes Wizards (Males) and Witches (females), can and do manipulate the four natural terrestrial elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water, in magical activity. My High Priestess, took her son, then aged 13, on to the top of the South Downs area, where hang-gliders and paragliders go frequently. It was her son's 13th. birthday and she had bought him a power kite. On the highest point around, the air was flat calm, even though she was facing into where the wind should have been coming from. Seeing his obvious disappointment, she summoned the Air Spirits from the direction she was facing and asked for brisk activity until further notice. This was granted and her son was able to fly his kite.

As regards danger, yes it CAN be dangerous but magical powers are usually denied to the inept, the fearful or people who seek to wilfully abuse them.

the ancients thought that the elements were earth, wind, fire and water. as science progressed it was realised that these were in fact compounds of the elements - fire being the reaction of these elements releasing heat and light.
So in this sense we already manipulate the elements:

Earth: from using metallic elements wrought into tools to cut and carve rock, till the land, bioengineer crop organism

Wind: we use gaseous elements to heat our homes, cook our food, run our machinary, breathe, generate electricity

Fire: we make myriad compounds from elements that involve mixing them in chemical reactions that release heat or consume "heat" (energy) - pharmaceuticals, chemicals, plastics, synthetics, fertilisers, alloys, etc

Water: and finally we know that water is essential to life as all biochemical reactions that maintain the bonds between the elemental atoms that make up our bodies occur in solution, we use water to irrigate arid land, we get energy from hydroelectric plants and wave power, we extract many chemicals from water and industry uses water in many ways.
Hope this helps!

No. That is not possible. Only nature can control elements and we cannot manipulate nature laws.

You’re not made up of earth, wind fire and water!
But you are made up of elements
Refer to the Periodic table of elements to find out what elements you’re made up of!

We are all dust and this is the form we shall return to!!!
Water...we all speak hot air and water (piss)
Fire.. we all can hold the devils tongue and suffer indigestion!
Air... Something we use everyday and don't think about, but maybe we should!
ELEMENTS
No We cant influence them we need them. We influence them but hey don't they relish on us..... WHO DO THEY BELONG TO????

Manipulation is certainly done already, but I doubt we will be able to ever use them at will.
