My wife started taking birth control a week ago and I was wondering if it is safe to have sex. Most people say one month is best to wait, but she started her pills the day she started her period. I have heard that means you are immediately protected. Supposedly the month rule is to ensure that the pill is being used on the day of a started period, and as she obviously took the pill the day of, I wasn't sure if we were protected or not. Any advice?
And please if you have any opinion at all, please respond, I would really like to know what experienced people think.

isn't there a good reason she's taking it like she doesn't want any more kids?
If you're serious about not having any, don't mess about. Use condoms or whatever your favourite form of birth control is. You'll have plenty of time to cash in on the advantages of the pill once the 30 days are up.
Also note that if she takes any antibiotics for illnesses etc. you may have to do the same thing again as antibiotics can stop pills working. I've had plenty of friends who have babies after taking antibiotics and not using a backup method.

As far as I know as long as you take at the beginning of your period you are protected. I've been married for 4 years and on and off the pill 3 times. On the pamphlet that comes with the birth control it said after the 7 days of taking it during my period I was protected. Just read about her birth control. She's your wife just talk to her about making sure she is protected.

You have to wait a month because of the hormones in the pill. It takes at least one cycle of the pill to get the body fooled into thinking it is pregnant (that is how birth control pills work). If you have unprotected sex now, your wife could still become pregnant.

She's on birth control pills? Then you need to wait until she's gone through a complete cycle of them before having unprotected sex. There is a greater chance of ovulation especially during the first month cycle on the pill. Sorry, you still need to use protection to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Just use condoms for a month like you are supposed, everyone is supposed to start taking it on the first day of period, so that doesn't make a difference. Especially make sure you are using protection if the pill is making her sick.

I wanted no more then a week after starting the pills to have sex. That was unprotected and I did not get pregnant, but that doesn't mean she won't.
If you are concerned then I would wait, but you can always use double protection (pill + condom).

It's always advised to wait the whole month (basically, it's safe to start again when she starts the 2nd pack of pills). The pills cause numerous body changes, and it takes a whole cycle to get everything into full swing.

her body has to get the right amount or hormones in it, it has to get used to the pill, get up to the right amounts in her system and all that, you really should wait the month. just use a condom for now or some other form of birth control too for the rest of the month, because unless youd be ok with her getting pregnant, dont take chances. thats my opinion anyway.

I took my pills a full month to make sure that I was protected. Better to be safe than sorry!

My doctor told me a week, so I don't know. I also heard that while your on the white pills and a week after, you shouldn't have unprocted sex. So I guess every birth control pill is different.
