Very simple answer. Wankel rotory engine in your 86 RX7 has no compression....or very low. Not enough to run. I would expect something. Try shooting some starting fluid in the intake. If it doesn't fire, shoot flame, or something, then there is no spark. At which point you will want to troubleshoot the ignition system. If it does fire, try feeding it fuel to keep it running. That would indicate a problem in the fuel system. Take a compression reading to see if it's close to 100 pounds......when it's not running...disconnect the coil or ignition wire if you like. My fear is that you'll only see about 50 psi on all combustion chambers because I expect the running cylinder to have excessive wear. Just the nature of the beast on a rotory engine. they are prone tp flooding and washing down the cylinders --pull plugs and squirt a lil oil in cylinders replace plugs and see if it will crank up
