Definitely. The Sony PS1 controllers do work on the PS2. I am not sure about the 3rd party ones though; like Madcatz, etc. I still use the older controllers for when I play certain games, because the buttons feel more comfortable.

now what you do is hit both component some cases anf if that dose no longer artwork pile your ps2 video games on proper of the console and if that dose no longer artwork open the controlers( and any thoughts thats interesting) yet when that dose no longer artwork purchase new controlese, and nevertheless of no longer some thing open the ps2 and connect it ( and any thoughts thats interesting) and if non of thos artwork get a ps3 ( and if that dose no longer artwork open the ps3 ( and any thoughts thats interesting) ...

They are call progressive compatible.
That means that as new tech comes out it will work on what is already out but the old stuff wont work on the new stuff.
