Not knowing your age, this is a hard one to answer, but I moved more times than I can count before 6th grade, and then once when I entered 8th grade into a new school.
It's difficult, but I made better friends in my final school (High School with the crew after 8th grade) than I did in any previous change. Look into the extra-curiculars that are offered and do what interests you -- you'll find friends with similar interests as long as you're being honest about your interest and not just trying to "fit in".
20 years later (yes, I'm an adult.. or at least that's what they call me ;-) I'm still friends with some of the people I met in 9th grade, while I can't even locate people I thought we're the world to me prior to that.
Given your distance, it's not unreasonable that you might be able to maintain some contact with your previous friends, especially if one or more of you are of driving age or have understanding parents, but I bet that in 3-4 months, you're spending more time with your new friends than with the people you left behind. It can be difficult, but it's also a chance to see what friendships transcend distance and what new friendships can bring to you that you never realized you were missing.
More than once I have mused on the fact that if I had predicted which of the friends I graduated with I would still be in contact with, I would have been 95% wrong. Of my High-School buddies, only one is still a regular contact of mine, 3 are intermittent, and of people prior to high school, I don't even know if I could find them if I wanted to!
Hang in there and look at this as a chance to test old bonds and forge new ones.

Have tons of experience in that department....never went to the same school 2 years in a row and sometimes 2 schools in the same year. It is hard and kind of scary but then the first day of school always is. Just remember you probably arent the only new kid there. So smile, be friendly, and have a blast. You will make friends in no time!!

I moved 3 hours away, in the middle of the fourth grade. It was really easy, but i dont think you are that young. I'm 16 now, and have none of the same friends from my first school, but so many great ones from here. Good luck. Just be friendly and open.

I am 20 years old and moved 21 times in my life and went to 14 different schools during that time. Just get in there and make some friends. Don't be shy like I was.

Well i did go through that The school I use to go to was not very up dated so IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AFTER THE CHRISTMAS BREAK I HAD TO GO TO A PUBLIC SCHOOL WHERE I DIDN'T KNOW ANY ONE AT ALL. i WAS SO SCARED BECAUSE IT WASN'T LIKE IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. TALK ABOUT SCARED I WAS TERRIFIED. But on the second day i made friends with everyone and they liked me. I was so happy. You just have to be friendly to people and they will be friendly back.

Hey kiddo. Don't let it worry you. My dad was in the navy, and I went to 3 different middle schools, in Washington, California and Pennsylvania. The first two weeks, you are getting to know the other kids, and they are getting to know you. Get into some school activity, sports, band, cheerleading (nah, not that, bunch of stuckups there), but do something. It will all work out pretty quickly.

I never switched schools growing up, but I always thought it would be exciting to meet so many different people, rather then the same people I knew from k-12th. It will be great. good luck
