I've known my Wife for 6 years. She's 27 years old and she's blacked-out on me three times now. We were at a concert yesterday (it was hot) and she had some alcohol. She's been hypoglycemic before and I thought that's the reason she passed out the first two times (years ago). Yesterday, since we were at a concert, paramedics were at the scene and checked her blood-sugar - which was perfectly fine. So what could it be that's making her pass out? She passed out twice at the concert. The first time, walking, she just fell to the ground (with her eyes opened the whole time) and the second time she passed out in my arms (again, with her eyes opened).
I've convinced her to go to a doctor but I'd like to get as much information on my own as well...
Thanks in advance...

I use to do the same thing myself..between low blood sugar, and allergies..there are a couple of things that can cause this..allergies..diabeties, heart problems, low blood pressure...pregnancy..anxiety, dehydration...it's really hard to know for sure whats going on with her without being checked out. and often times people don't want to. if this is something that happens often, take her to the emergency room, they can check for all of these at the same time

Unlike diabetes, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is very hard to detect with one blood sugar test. I'd bet the paramedics checked her some time after her faint started - or was over.
To truly rule out hypoglycemia, based on the reading I have done, and what people have told me, one needs to have a 6-hour glucose tolerance test. Shorter than 6 hours may show that one has no diabetes, but may not rule out hypoglycemia.
For basic information on hypoglycemia and how to self check at home, check out www.hufa.org.

Alcohol dehydrates you, so if she was already slightly dehydrated, alcohol may have put her over the edge and caused her to faint.
And some people just faint when it's hot out... they don't sweat, they pass out. I know a couple of people who are that way, and it's really scary to be with them in a crowd when they go down. Luckily, they recognize that it's dehydration and always carry water with them. I'd recommend that she start doing that, and see if it gets any better.

Could be siezures as well. People do "not" have to be shaking all over & all of that to be epileptic! Also does not have to happen all of the time. Some siezures can be as simple as "spacing" or zoning out to the point someone might have to physically touch you to bring you around or to full blown fits but fainting is in there also.

Could be a heart condition,...sometimes they just give meds....they will do tests to see if there is a problem,...my daughter passed out in school one time, it was very hot, and she didn't eat breakfast. i took her to the doctors and they just checked her blood pressure and listened to her heart.evrything was fine.. they said they wouldn't send her to get tests...only if it happened again,(because it could have been the heat)...it hasn't happened again since the beginning of June....take your girl to the doctors, since this happens a lot....make her go...it could be nothing.

There are many possible answers to this.
I would recommend a COMPLETE physical with labwork.
She could be hypoglycemic, diabetic, low blood pressure, low hemoglobin (some women have this due to menstrual cycle). It could have been a mild seizure.
You could start your web search on www.webmd.com

Hypoglycemia would have been my first guess........but since that wasn't the case this time....which doesn't mean it wasn't in the past.....how was her blood pressure???? Syncope-or near syncope can occur with low blood pressure.....it could also be indicative of some type of arrythmia(funky heart rhythm--beat) Without knowing anything else about her hx. this is all I can give you.....good luck!!!!!

Could be a heart problem. Ask about Tachycardia--there are a few different types. It's a symptom but I don't know how likely if its by itself.

she might have low blood pressure. it is hard to diagnose if she gets nervous when they take her blood pressure at the doctors. I have this problem and faint often.
