If this is your first pregnancy and has been normal thus far, you shouldnt need to go to the hospital just yet. You may be starting labor. But for a first pregnancy, if you arent too far of a drive from the hospital they usually want you to wait until the contractions are 3-4 minutes apart. Or if you are in too much pain to tolerate it at home nay longer. You may just be having some contractions to prepare for the real thing. I had them for a few weeks before i delivered. They were different than the braxton hicks i was having in the 8th month. More painful and closer together. One night a few weeks before i delivered i laid in bed just hoping they would get closer together. They got down to five minutes apart for 20 minutes, and then they went away. i was so disappointed. I would just wait a bit longer and see what happens. If this is your first, you arent in danger of delivering right away. Good luck!!! I bet you are so excited right now!

Well it sounds like it might be about your time. Some people are lucky and only feel small pain with their backaches. My best friend just had her baby yesterday and I am so jealous of her because that is how she did. It could also be constipation. It will also cause back pain from the pressure. But you should be able to determine that. And you can get constipated during this time and may have to have an enema. But just keep timing the pains and make sure they stay regular for a while and try changing positions and walking to see if there is any change in timing and pains. Hope you are almost there. I am getting close myself, I am now 36 weeks and ready to go

If this is your first child you may be experiencing the Braxton Hicks which is not real labor but your body is preparing for the birth,if the pains are exactly so many min. apart then by all means go,but if some are 5 then 7,I would call your doc.first,If you do go,bring a tennis ball.sounds like you are going to have back labor and your coach can press it and roll it into your back.

Yes. You are having what is called "back labor". I had it with my first and my last child. It just means that the baby is head down, but facing the front and not the back so every time you have a contraction, the little head is pushed into your spine instead of against the cervix.

First you should call your doctor and have them talk to you and let them decide. However if the pain keeps getting closer to where they are 2 mins apart, GO IMMEDIATELY. I had something similar happen to me around 39 weeks but stopped just as fast as it started. I wound up going to 42 weeks!!
Good Luck :-)
