You can safely use acetone (fingernail polish remover, paint thinner) on any cloths, but acetate triacetate,

Get a sponge or cloth with acetone on it and press down on it keep doing this until the polish is removed...run the stain under cold water and check and see thats it all out, if not keep repeating. Wash, but DO NOT dry until you have checked them all over for anymore polish....

It depends on the type of material. I've actually used mail polish remover on demin. But you've gotta check to make sure it doesn't change the color any. I checked it on the inside of the hem.

nail polish remover, if it's jeans. otherwise I would call a dry cleaner, maybe they would know a home remedy.
