I don't need you to tell me any other details or how to find out this information. I work at a movie theater, I already know.

I think I'll give the points to carnabyfudge or dukalink. Most movie theaters use partially hydrogenated soybean oil, colored with artificial coloring and flavored with "buttery" flavoring. It contains saturated fats and transfat.

it's usually a soy bean oil base. it has very high levels of hydrogenated oils in it which are big contributors to cholesterol. they sell it in the grocery store by the microwave popcorn. pick it up and read the ingredients for yourself. i always order my popcorn without butter.

Odell's Super-Kist Two is a soybean based topping oil blended with special butter flavoring.
Now there is some suspicion that tropical oils are better for you than the transfat that many movie theaters proudly peddle as being a healthy alternative to coconut and palm oil.
Some scientists believe that although tropical oils are high in saturated fat, that the saturated fats from plants aren't as harmful. Whearas trans fats are at least as harmful as animal based saturated fat.

I don't think anyone wants to really know this... lol. I think it is mostly grease/fat. Truly doubt they would use real butter... probably a cheap oleo substitute.
