I don't see anything wrong with the school dance thing. but the dating, I don't see why it can't be the time. I have 2 little brothers both are in 6th grade only a couple months apart but they both date girls .. My parents agreed to it.. Also, you should tell you parents always where you are. They might worry about you Just tell them where you are going and ask what time you should be home. I never asked my parents permission to date . I just dated anyways..

Yes, yes, its too premature to be going to the school dance w/out permission from your parents. Dating at that age should be a NO, NO! I'm a parent, but not yours! I'm telling you from my point of view that I'd be worried sick about my daughter if I didn't know where she was at all times, and what she was doing, and who she was with! I can only hope that you have the sense to ask permission first, have safe transportation to and from the dance/wherever you may go. And a little bit of extra spending money for a cab/or change for a payphone(not all kids have cells!) to call in emergency! I beg you respect your parents, trust that they know whats best for you. Good luck, and stay safe, honey!

You should let your parents know where you are until you move out. That is the mature thing to do. What if something happens to you or them for that matter. They have no way of knowing where you are or getting a hold of you.
As for the dances. Yeah, 6th grade is when they usually start, but your parents should know about them and agree to let you go. Same with "dating". It is your parents decision if you are ready or not. If you prove mature enough they will give you those privileges. Just please be careful.

no, wait till high school, i dont go out at night but you might pull it off. Always ask your parents and tell them where you are going. Things happen you never know of. Last week, one teen decided to party in NYC, she wandered off and got killed after being intoxicated. Always ask before going and as for school dances, there should be something sent home, plus a guest list to assure parents and staff that no 'aliens' intrude the party or cause any harm. Thats what hapened at my school, since then, there havent been any dances. Dont miss them anyways.

I let my child go to dances and parties alone in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, but not out on dates just yet. He needs to mature a llittle more before I trust him like that and I always need to know where he is and what he is doing in case something happens to him or someone else.

well no... in 6th grade, people start dating ppl and they dont tell there parents but believe me... there parents find out and they get busted so you might as well wait til 7th grade then parents sorta lighten up about dating and boys and going out with ur friends to the movies and stuff like that.

Dances, yes, although it's pointless because there's too much drama.
Letting your parental figures know where you're going, you should always do that, anyways. "Just in case" type of thing. Your parents can't help but feel worried about you sometimes. Besides, there's too many cases of rape, abductions, etc.
Dating, go for it. Nothing counts until high school, really.

don't count on it. I'm not letting mine go out with friends until he is 13 years old. Staying over the night is different though. He can do that when he is 8 years old.

No never leave without telling your parents. A parents worst fear is something bad happening to their child. Without knowing they are safe or not is parental abuse.
