I know what you are talking about and I know, it is spyware/adware. That happened to my sister in law once and she was crazy about it because she would change her homepage to MSN but it would come back to a site that advertized online security program.
Please use one of these programs:
This is what I do to protect my computer:
> Scan your computer for spyware/adware using a FREE software from Microsoft called Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
> You can download a FREE antivirus software:
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/Programs/lng/us/tpl/tpl01
> You can buy Webroot Spy Sweeper here, it's very nice, safe and very up-to-date:
http://www.webroot.com/land/freescan-3000.php?rc=4929&ac=5190853
> MSN Toolbar, includes Pop-up blocker, Phishing filter - FREE:
http://toolbar.live.com/?mkt=en-us
>Scan your computer for spyware/adware:
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=google_adw
>Scan your computer for virus/trojans:
http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp
> Use Windows Update to make sure you have the latest security updates: http://www.windowsupdate.com
> You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer, it's the new version, fast, clean and secure:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx?mg_ID=10010
Good luck and I hope these solutions solve your problem, if you need more extra help, contact me :)

First run a virus scan, just to be sure.
·Then go to: http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
·And download the free program SpyBot Search and Destroy.
·Install the program and run it. It will start with a small scan.
·Use the Search for Updates button to make sure that your program is up to date and ready.
·Then press the Check for Problems button, and follow the instructions on the screen.
The program will find any spyware and point it out to you; it will give you an option to delete it all. Which usually doesn't cause any problems. If a program doesn't work because the spyware was deleted then you can go to the trashcan and get the file back, or reinstall the program. As for me I would get rid of the program and find something else that works. Which is why I avoid any program by Gator; the spyware kings.
Then open Internet Explore and go to the page you want for your home page.
·In the Menu Bar at the top of the screen select Tools
·Go to Internet Options
·A dialogue box should appear with the General Tab selected.
·The first option allows you to set your home page.
·Copy the URL in the Address bar.
·Paste it into the Address Line in the Dialogue box
·Or use the select current button to fix your home page.
I have a firewall on my computer, and I use Zone Alarm (from Zone Labs: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_zap.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=home_pro). They have a 15-day trial version and it cost $40 to buy the program. Zone Alarm disables the set home page option, so once it is set, it can NEVER be reset.
A Firewall is a good safety feature. If you are on a network it that has Internet access then it is a must. I like it because it watches what runs on the computer. You teach the Firewall to let the programs you install run normally, but if a program is doing something suspicious then the Firewall will block it and ask you for permission to let the program run. They use a color code so if you see popup with a Red Title bar then you know that this program could be doing something like logging your keystrokes or sending out data across the Internet. Usually it is safe to let the program go ahead and run, but it stops spyware in its tracks. The Firewall also includes advanced Cookie control and an automatic Spyware scanner. To keep getting updates you need to renew your subscripton each year, but it will still server as a basic Firewall and Home Page fix system if you never renew the subscription.

I use 4 for redundancy checks (since some can overlook a few): Spybot SD, Ad-Aware SE, Ewido and A-squared. There are free versions of these. You also must have an anti-virus and a firewall installed for greater safety. I also conduct periodic manual deletion of all cookies.

hi, spyware is a disgusting and infamous virus. perhaps you can try Norton or Mcafee to remove the virus, but you should pay for the software.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:

Best Wishes && Good Luck!

Check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaw... and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/)...... to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections.
